Question
“Have you seen any evidence that TMG can lower homocysteine?” [0:02:45]
Answer
TMG is trimethylglycine, and another name for it is betaine. We have a methyl donor group in trimethylglycine. There are three methyl groups. That's a carbon with three hydrogens on it, and this is very stabilizing for human biochemistry. It also acts as a detox. It acts as a stabilizer for the molecule. Our DNA and the histones that cover and wrap our DNA are very sensitive to having methyl donors to keep our metabolism uninflamed. And so, methyl donation does a tremendous amount of good. Homocysteine is the name of a biochemical product after it's been used up in metabolism, and if it can get a methyl group put back on it, it turns back into a useful precursor for many wonderful reactions in our body. So, if you add a methyl to homocysteine, that becomes methionine. Methionine has many important functions in human metabolism. So then, betaine or trimethylglycine, the same name as betaine, is a methyl group that's attached during metabolism to help detox. If you start building up homocysteine, it's implicating that your metabolism is unable to deal with the waste, the inflammation, cell damage, and detoxify it. So, that's what it is.
But he asks, " Have I ever seen any evidence? And the answer is, yeah. You could use superior intelligence. Go to your computer and type in the question: What published articles identify trimethylglycine or betaine as helpful in human metabolism? Something like that. You'll see article after article after article. There are quite a few. And yes, I've clinically seen this help. In order to do and make that transaction, you usually need a good B-vitamin complex: vitamin B12, vitamin B6, folic acid. So, you have to have minerals, so the co-factors need to be in there. But yes, I have seen trimethylglycine both clinically improve homocysteine levels, and I have seen it in published work over many, many decades, going back at least to the mid-90s. I've been using this all right.
Question
“I have been having severe pain in my wrist. It’s not all the time, and it doesn’t stop me from doing most activities. However, when it hits a certain spot, it is so excruciating. At the same time, I have a crazy skin issue occurring for the same amount of time as the pain in the wrist. Could carpal tunnel syndrome be triggering my skin dermatitis?” [0:06:25]
Answer
Well, you know, without you being a patient, without me seeing it, are there, you know, rashes associated with arthritic pain in the joint? And the answer is yes. Psoriasis is one of them. The dermatitis of B vitamin deficiencies is another. Essential oil deficiencies. So the membranes of the synovium, the lining of the tendons, can be depleted, and this can be associated with a skin dermatitis, as well as joint pain. You would have to see your doctor; let them look at that. And I would just buy Clinician’s Preference Oil because I don't like fish oils. I like the essential, pure essential oils: alpha-linolenic acid, omega-3, and I like the linoleic acid that is unadulterated, meaning it hasn't been hydrogenated, called linoleic acid omega-6. This is the highest-quality oil, and I've been taking it for decades, and I've worked with the scientists that have developed this, and there's no risk of there being any contamination of mercury at all with this. So, this Clinician's Preference Oil can be used topically. It can be used orally. I would take just a methylated form of trimethylglycine or betaine, a methylated B vitamin, and a complex to get all the B’s. And I would take the systemic enzymes on an empty stomach once or twice a day, and that, along with an amino acid chelated multi-mineral of high quality like Ortho Molecular, makes for me the TLC Multi-mineral. Those are the things I do for the rashes, along with telling the patients with their joint pain and their rashes to fast for 24 hours, and that forces them to get better hydrated and drink a lot of water and healthy fluids. And then go on a very low-carb diet, a keto-like diet, rich in proteins from animal products, and that usually makes a big difference. So, hopefully that helps you.
Question
“I began taking methylated B vitamins and TMG and am feeling better finally.” [11:08]
Answer
Well, praise the Lord. And if they spend more time, and I think they are starting too, the medical schools have to admit they've really dropped the ball and the pharmaceuticals have just kept, would be physicians in training just protocol driven to support decisions that drive them to prescribe pharmaceuticals, and they've been woefully deficient in the physiology, nutrition, diet of how to preserve health and fight disease rather than just a school that says this is how you treat disease and identify it. No, you have to teach how to prevent it as well. So, I'm so glad you're doing better.
Question
“Additionally, I tested positive for the (MTHFR) methylenetetrahydrofolate test, both variants.” [0:12:12]
Answer
So, you apparently have some genetic skips that make it difficult for your body to do these methylations. And as we've looked at this in the 1990s, when I was studying this for my patients, that's about when they came out commercially available in labs for me to do homocysteine levels, like the gentleman's first question earlier tonight, and they had a range in the labs, and they would say it's normal to have a homocysteine up to 24. So, it just shows, over time, the pressure and the gradual learning curve; it takes 3 plus years to get the medical community and the doctors educated to see that that was way too tolerant. Then they dropped it to like 15. Now I see some labs dropping it to 13, and we consider it ideal if your homocysteine is 9 or less. So, yeah. And there are 30 percent of people who will have those higher homocysteine levels, which puts you at higher risk for many issues in your life, not just a lab error. Cardiovascular disease, potentially related to its function in methylating and quieting pathways that would lead to a cancerous metabolic outcome. And so, yeah, there are quite a few things.
Question
“Makes me think psoriatic arthritis immediately.” [0:14:20]
Answer
Yeah, psoriatic arthritis is really an autoimmune phenomenon. I usually see it in the blood type O people who really react rather difficultly to dairy products in the United States that have been homogenized and pasteurized, and it ruins the milk fat, milk proteins, and makes that like an invasive burning white fire going down your throat; same for the cheeses. They also react very violently biochemically in the gut to the genetic modifications they did to the wheat seeds that went into making what they call the dwarf wheat plant in the n mid-1950s. They wanted to save the world from hunger, and so they did genetic modification to make a higher yield, a shorter plant, more full, more poundage per acre, and they made a foreign entity that your body's not at all happy with seeing. And then they started adding pesticide/insecticide genetically into it through glyphosate, and that really harms the O type blood, which inflames the immune system, which creates this chronic inflammatory immune response, which then can have molecular mimicry that will then attack the joints and the skin and create these chronic problems, chronic eczema, and it just goes on and on.
Question
“Dr. Rita, who has the best article on the benefits of cholesterol?” [0:16:16]
Answer
I would direct you to YouTube to two locations. One is Dr. Nick Norwitz, and that's, I think, the name of his YouTube channel. And if you see him, he's a young doctor. He healed himself, or cured himself, on a carnivore diet, and he had Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis- I forget which- which was so bad; he was on the verge in his college and medical school years of putting him at risk for losing part of his colon, you know, having surgery and maybe a colostomy back, who knows. And he did the best list of the value of cholesterol. And he actually has a cholesterol level of like 500 to 700, and he did a beautiful review of all the research on cholesterol. His name is Nick Norwitz on YouTube. I would go to him. If you go to Dr. Ken Berry on YouTube also, he has a video that lists article after article in a discussion with a PhD scientist by the name of Dr. David Diamond, PhD. They've done two sessions together, one about four months ago and one about three years ago, and they list the history of the articles and publications that were pivotal in pushing a cholesterol-lowering drug training in the medical schools and how corrupt this direction has been, ignoring clear science that saturated fats were not and have never been the cause of heart disease. Then this more recent update done three months ago brings up newer topics, such as Zetia (ezetimibe); these are Repatha; these are drugs using different methods to try and fight cholesterol elevations without blocking the coenzyme reductase, which has generated loss of CoQ10 being produced in the body. So, I think those would be two good areas to look into.
Question
“Also avoiding folic acid in foods. I wish more doctors would address this, but many are not aware.” [0:19:32]
Answer
Well, folic acid and folate are not equal molecules. And so, you want folate, which is a different form of folic acid, and that would be in your methyl B complex that is of high quality.
She said, "I wish more doctors would address this, but many are not aware." Well, I don't have the answer for that. I love what I do. I love my patients, and I see God as the true architect, creator of heaven and earth and of the human body and all life and living things and the phenomena of energy metabolism from the sun, in the trees, to converting it into food for us, starch, fruit sugars in the fruits and vegetables, and using chlorophyll and magnesium in the green trees and leaves, which capture energy from the sun, the photons, and store it in these foods. And then we eat this; we're mobile, so we can't pull our nutrition out of the ground as a plant does through roots. We have to consume things. So we consume the fruits and vegetables and the flesh of fish and chicken and beef, and then we convert that into our bodily needs, our muscles. This is so fantastic: this energy transfer of electrons from the sun, from our food, into our bodies. The design is so precise; I feel like I'm really studying the Bible and studying about God when I do my science reading, and I just can't help but enjoy it, and I see my patients as His creation and as puzzles to try and support their health, so they can do good work for his kingdom. So, I get a kick out of this. I guess that's why I'm here until God's done using me, and I'll be happy not necessarily to be called a physician, although I'm a licensed medical allopathic doctor. I really see myself as God's nurse. I think that's a better way to see myself.
Question
“Do you do ozone shots in wrist/thumb joint?” [0:22:34]
Answer
We did. I used to do ozone injections, and yes, there seemed to be some benefit, but I don't have the support for that that I used to. And I always saw benefit from IV ozonation of the blood with ultraviolet light irradiation. So, since I don't have the staff trained in doing that, I have resorted to using ozone in the form of ultraviolet light, ozonated blood with ultraviolet light irradiation. That's what I do here.
Question
“Being an old patient of TLC when I lived in California sent me on a path, and now I am 40 and started my undergraduate in Health Sciences this year. I was so tired of clinics that didn't care properly, especially the lack of Christ-centered providers and clinics. I feel those ethics and understanding of Christ as the physician of the soul are important in true holistic care.” [0:23:24]
Answer
Well, that's wonderful, and I pray that you just enjoy the leading of the Holy Spirit, of God's Spirit. I just want to share this one thing. Corrie ten Boom, who was the Jewish lady, I think she was Jewish, who was in the Holocaust with her family, she survived it, and she used to lecture about how her faith and her Christian, she became a Christian, love of God carried her through. And she would explain her role on the planet, and this is how I see myself, as she would bring a glove, like a lady would put a glove on, you know, that it would be long, and she brought it to her lectures, and she would talk about we are just the limp glove. Well, when the Holy Spirit comes into you, when you accept the Lord Jesus as the payment for your sin, because we could never earn it, we just have to accept the gift of his work, then the Holy Spirit puts that glove on and then starts using you to do his work on the planet, using your mouth to speak things. And since God is love, and then there's a whole new area of vibrational medicine, the physics, the quantum physics of healthcare, which I've been studying since before the 1990s, the book The Body Electric. I was trying to remember that last week on Tuesday. The Body Electric and Vibrational Medicine. Now, I don't know if the authors were believers or not, but talking about the frequency and the energy transfer, it's all about energy. And remember in Colossians where it says we're kept by the word of his power. We're kept together instead of dissolving and exploding. The bonds between us are the power of God. All of this is so fascinating. And research is showing the love response, the caring response, the listening, the valuing of human life has an energy frequency orchestra that brings order to disordered cells and energy pathways. And that's why they think there's healing when you touch people, healing when you hug people, healing when you speak loving words to them, even if you aren't talking about the Bible. All loving gestures that are sincere- you can't fake that energy.
And so, I want to say to you that I'm so glad, all that I am, that you're going on into health sciences. I have to say I never thought – you know, I got married when I was 17. And so, who am I? I'm nobody. And when I thought about going to medical school, was I hearing from the Lord? You know, my husband was on active duty, enlisted, Vietnam was wrapping up, and I was stuck alone away from everyone, and my husband walked me over to the campus near Fort Campbell, Kentucky. So, it was Clarksville, Austin Peay State University. He walked me over there, and he picked out my classes. He said, "You do this, this, this, and this, and you stay busy," you know, when he went on active duty. And I had my Bible in one hand, I had my studies in the other, and it just turned out that I passed the courses, and God just kept on promoting me, and I got into medical school somehow at Chicago Medical School, and there I am today. So, who are we? Let God put his hand into you and use you to do his work, build his kingdom, repair all the broken hearts, the broken feelings, receive this love – because it does say, God is love. And when it says all these gifts will pass, but faith, hope, and love will exist always, and the greatest of these is love. That's in 1 Corinthians chapter 13. So, I am glad that God has still stuck with me even into my 70s, taking me to the woodshed when I start getting frustrated or upset, or critical. And He's once again softening my heart, helping me to say, I've got this, Rita, not you. I've got it. I need you to just love my creation. Don't think you've arrived because you're 73 years old and you know what to tell everybody because you don't. And remember that all that I am. You can do all things through Christ. Yeah.
And he said, “Especially the lack of Christ-centered providers and clinics, I feel those ethics and understanding of Christ as the physician of the soul are important in true holistic care.” Amen to that.
Question
“Is it true that if you're low in sodium, your cortisol will go up?” [0:29:47]
Answer
Well, sodium is so critical in the energy transfer of your body, the flow of energy. Everything is about the flow of energy, and you have to have a Sodium-potassium pump. The Sodium pump can be used for other critical electrolytes in our body as well. Yeah. So, not having enough, you're going to, your body will sense that strain. Your cortisol will go up to put you in a fight-or-flight sympathetic tone to figure out what's going wrong. Yeah. So, the answer is yes to that.
“I heard that from Dr. Eric Berg.” All right. Well, that's a correct physiological answer.
Question
“Dr. Rita, have you ever heard of this Unicity product for high blood sugar? It comes from yerba mate special fiber, supposedly all natural. Thanks!” [0:30:45]
Answer
Yes, I've heard of that. I have heard of that. Yes, I have heard of that. Now, it's not that I can speak to it right now. I would have to write yerba mate and glucose and just remind myself of that. But God has put many – One thing I learned doing my second doctorate in Integrative Medicine was in the studies of energy in the body, in the studies of herbal medicine, Bach remedies, flower essence, homeopathic, acupuncture, all of these things; in that doctorate, I was amazed at the vast resources all over the planet that God makes available to his creation. So, it isn't just that you have to have a particular herb. There are many out there. And so, that's why I don't get all excited when they come up with one particular flavor of the month, an antioxidant new discovery. I heard another thing that I think is very valuable, and that is it isn't what is new. Don't go around saying, " Have they found anything new that is going to extend life? Well, I honestly think God put his foot down and said the time of man will be 120 years. That's in chapter 6 of Genesis. So, what I want to say is the question should rather be, what is enduring? What endures in and across all science, and brings it together. And the enduring things are reproducible. God said there's nothing new under the sun. So, being adequately hydrated, getting a good night's sleep, exercising, moving the body, not eating late at night, reducing the fake refined food, sugar, stickiness, inflammation it creates in the body, eating only natural wild-caught, free-range animals and unfettered pesticide-covered fruits and vegetables. So, the enduring thing is that things are what make a difference.
Question
“My legs are painful on skin by both ankles. Took antibiotics for cellulitis, no help. Dermatologist: Stasis dermatitis from circulation. Now getting shots in small varicose veins. If it doesn’t work, what?” [0:33:42]
Answer
Well, I don't like at all injecting veins with foreign material that produces inflammatory responses to shut down the vein from blood flow, like varicosities and spider veins. Rather, I would see a good functional doctor, find out what your fasting blood sugar, your fasting insulin, your fasting triglycerides, and your fasting hemoglobin A1C are, and look at your activity level. I would put you on systemic enzymes. I would put you on a time range for eating, find out your age, find out your blood type, look for nutrient deficiencies, and then maybe a nice pair of support socks to use during the day. That's how I would approach it, not with anything injected. That just – I’ve had too many patients in my 45 years who have had blood clots and pulmonary embolisms from injections into their varicose veins and spider veins.
Question
“Diagnosed with rectal cancer last year. Do you recommend Quercetin? If so, how much? And is it ok to take B12? Someone said don't take B12 because it will feed the cancer; not sure if It's true.” [0:36:35]
Answer
Do you recommend Quercetin? Yes, I do. 600 mg a day. And is it okay to take B12? Yes. Well, eating any food, anything, has the potential to feed growing cells. What you have to do is get leverage. So, you can make a claim, do a scientific study, and show how B12 will be used in the metabolism of these abnormal genetic cell lines that are out of control with reproduction. So, no, you don't get frightened by that. You just have to learn how to leverage the biochemistry, the lifestyle of the patient, to favor repair, immune enhancement, and recovery, and diminish and starve rapidly growing abnormal cell lines. And quercetin has a beautiful pathway in the cell mitochondria of how it works to inhibit this wild cell replication. So yeah, there are many things like that.
Question
“There's a good book about that called The Field by Lynne McTaggart. It includes hundreds of scientific citations. Correction: That book proves what ancient religions have always known about the mind, body, and universe.” [0:38:03]
Answer
Yes, energy medicine. Yeah, you're right. And that's what – I got the message. I was in my early 40s when I took that doctorate; I got off of active duty from the military at that point, and I knew there was a huge hole. Of course, my father was in food research. And I said, I need direction; I need some good input. So, I went to, I think, the first place I worked after active duty – of course, I did emergency room medicine- but I went to Whitaker Wellness Institute in Newport Beach, and Julian Whitaker hired me to help get the ladies' natural hormone support up and running in the early 90s or mid-90s. And I learned from them, from Allan Sosin, who I guess recently retired. He had the Institute for Progressive Medicine in Irvine. I don't know if it's open or not anymore. So, Whitaker Wellness is closed, and I know Allan Sosin Institute for Progressive Medicine, I think, has changed or closed. I'm not sure. I hope it hasn't. And Dr. Weissman, he went up and worked, I think, in LA. He was in internal medicine. But it wasn't enough. We were so busy working; I needed to take time to go back to school, and it took a few years, two years, to work. I published my first publication in a nutraceutical as one of my theses for my doctorate, and that was on Juice Plus, by the way, when Juice Plus first came out in antioxidant work, and ever since then I've been on Juice Plus. It still stands and has the enduring strength of the Juice Plus capsules, not any other format; the capsules, probably, are the most overwhelming benefit for human body physiology and anti-aging that I have ever seen in a nutrient. So, I will never stop taking that one.
Question
“Thank you for always answering our questions, Dr. E. You are a gem. I wish I lived closer to your clinic.” [0:40:37]
Answer
Well, praise the Lord. God will provide wherever we're at. He is raising up many good doctors. The COVID experience that jaded me- it made me so angry because I worked so hard when all these doctors were afraid to touch people and see them, and they closed their clinics and they hid behind the YouTube videos; telemedicine is what it is. I had all these patients coming to me saying, please see my mother, please see my child, please see my husband, please see my father, my uncle, my aunt, whatever. And I was in my late 60s, starting into my 70s, working full-time. And I added on to that a Saturday. So we were open all the time, and I never took a day off. I just stayed well, and nobody went to the hospital. Nobody died under my care. But I got so angry at my colleagues. I have to admit, I got excessively angry and bitter, and God did not like this, that rumbling. And that's what he took me to the woodshed for, you know, that my anger towards them was turning into arrogance. And so, I had to correct that, and I had to apologize and let him be God, and let him do his work, and just work back in love, work back in believing in the best. And so, I think we're going to start seeing these doctors, many of whom are turning around, many of whom are getting a good education, and with super intelligence, I think it's going to be just wonderful to see them explode now and help their people beautifully. I know the young new doctor that I'm working with here, Dr. Noah Alt, who you’ve seen twice, joined with me; he's a naturopathic physician doing a fantastic job. He's like a sponge. And we will soon be opening up appointments for him. I am just really, really thrilled. And then, of course, I am trying to stay here. And today, rather than making money here at the clinic, we will shut down. We will take one morning every month for a few hours to do our whole how are we doing, what are we doing right, what are we doing wrong, what could we do better. Our personal training for our wonderful front office to try and help our patients, our nursing support, our physicians; we meet monthly. We go over new cases, interesting cases, and new articles. We are diligently doing our work of studying the peptides, so that we aren't a money-seeking arrow trying to say Whatever the group is doing, we're going to do it. No, not us. We are going to find out what has safety, good safety signals. And we will probably get involved with peptide therapy. But I'm so proud of the future, and I'm so proud of the doctors that have corrected themselves and gotten back into their first love, like Revelation chapter 2 when Jesus is scolding the seven churches, and he says of the Ephesians, he saw their hard work and stuff, but they left their first love, and now I see I wish I could write a book saying the doctors are returning to their first love. So, there you go.
Question
“I'd love to see TLC come out with educational material for clinicians or med students looking to go beyond what they teach in standard medical school.” [0:44:47]
Answer
You know, I have videos that I've logged, and I can't do everything. I just have so little money to squeak by. I can't take a day off. I just can't. And I agree with you. Now, what I do make available is that you can come and shadow me. I'm telling anyone: if you're in health sciences or you're a doctor and you want to work a half day with me and sit in a chair as Dr. Alt does and see how do I deal with any problem that walks through the door, what are the functional, natural, integrative alternative complimentary ways for the IV, the immune drips, the detoxing, the natural hormones, men, women's health, autoimmune phenomena, gut restoration, if you want to see how we handle this and how we run it, you can come and I don't charge you. But as far as having enough money to take a day off and put things together, I don't have that. And I'm not computer savvy; I don't have someone who can help me make a video and stuff, and I don't want to take anyone's gift at that. I want to pay them for it if someone has that, and I just don't have the finances to do that. But thank you. So, you pray that I'll be more successful in this new place here now that I'm not in [inaudible], but I'm all in one place, and we have better communication, and we'll do better.
Question
“What Juice Plus capsules do you take, fruit & vegetable or berry blend?” [0:46:46]
Answer
I take all three. I use the fruit, vegetable, and berry. I take one in the morning of each, and I take one in the evening of each, so that when I'm in bed and trying to heal and repair at night, I have those food sources. I also take probably some buffered vitamin C at bedtime. I take three or so more systemic enzymes because my stomach is empty. I try to finish eating at 3:00, 3:30. So when I go to bed at 9 or 10 o’clock at night, my stomach is empty. So, all that anti-inflammatory work can work in my old body, and I just feel ready to start the day, man. I am so thankful to God Almighty; I have no pain anywhere. I have no arthritis. I have no medical problems. Glory be to God. And so, I'm inspired that God has allowed this, and I want to share this with so many people to look for a healthy, vibrant life. Yeah. So that's what I take: all three, fruit, vegetable, and berry.
Question
“What is the normal range of blood pressure for a healthy male, 5' 11" and 180 lbs?” [0:48:24]
Answer
Well, the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology have said that anything 120 over and lower than 120 and lower than 80 diastolic is normal. So, it used to always be 140 over 80 or 140 over 90, excuse me. But now they're saying if you're 121 to 130 and you are 80 to 89, you are stage 1 high blood pressure. If you are then 131 to 140 and 81 to 90, you are stage 2 blood pressure. And then it jumps to 180 over above 90, and that's quite a jump. So, there's this big zone: 140 to 180 is severe. So, lifestyle is supposed to be the first approach for blood pressures under 130 and under 80 to 89 as a diastolic. All right. So, this is all nitpicking. This is protocol. A good doctor who knows their patients is going to look at them every time they see them, ascertain their background stresses, know their family, get a real feel of what they're putting in for their exercise, their work stress environment, their hydration status, their cardiovascular status, their gut health, their sleep quality. I mean, all that has to go in. And then they'll have a real conversation with that patient and say I appreciate your stress. I appreciate your marital stress going on, or caring for elderly parents or a wayward child or all these things that go on, financial collapses, whatever. But we're not going to be able to do well if we don't stay well. And so, these patients need hope. They need to understand a doctor is going to be there to work with them. And we'll set a follow-up: two months, three months, four months, six months, to watch and hover over them while they do that. And that man or that woman who's working hard to do better, they know that they have, like, a big brother, big sister example in their doctor to say, I'm going to do better for her or him. I want to make this better. And then, hopefully, that doctor will be trained in something as simple as wall squats for blood pressure. Do you know that all the standard blood pressure medicines are really no better than just standing up against the wall and sliding down until you're in, like, a chair position and pushing against the wall and holding that muscle tension in your hips and back for about 60 to 120 seconds, and you do that morning and evening most days of the week, that'll drop your systolic 10 points and your diastolic 6. And that's been well documented. And then you can add to that: go taking a walk, getting to bed on time, staying hydrated, finding support and help from your peace in your faith or the counselors in your life, and all these things work towards that, lowering your carbs, elevating the head of your bed. Very often, a 15-degree elevation of the head of the bed is associated with better breathing, less mouth breathing, which will improve nitric oxide production and vasodilation. There are just so many things you can do. So when you say, what is the normal range of blood pressure for a healthy male? I am still sticking with the 140/90. And if you're in that, and I can watch over you and hold you accountable and get follow-up to look at labs, cholesterol, insulin, all these areas as well, I think that's fine.
Question
“My daughter started testosterone, and her hair became thin, brittle, and lots of hair loss in only one week. Can testosterone cause this so quickly?” [0:53:13]
Answer
Well, I'm going to say no. Your whole hair is a record of the months, weeks, and years. I mean, my hair goes down to my waist. So, what is that, you know, five years of growth or something like that, or more? So, it's a timeline. And no, there's no way that it would make it dry and brittle in that week. However, hair loss: is it possible that the root of the hair could be irritated by dihydrotestosterone? If you have 5-alpha reductase and that is not inhibited, that enzyme will promote maybe some weakening of the follicle hair root. Could that happen in a week? I don't know of any studies. I don't have any clinical experience with that. In 45 years of patients I've put on testosterone, I've never seen it. Certainly nothing in a week. Question
“I have a friend who is a 62-year-old female, 0+ blood type, and she's had tinnitus (constant ringing in her ears) for 20 years. She has tried everything. Is there something you would recommend for her to relieve/cure this condition?” [0:54:37]
Answer
That is more challenging. People often think it's the ear itself, the outer ear and the canal and the little ossicles in the middle ear there. But really, tinnitus is the cochlea and the 8th nerve to your brainstem auditory region, and that region is along this side of your head here on each side in the temporal occipital point of your body, and there are levels that they've mapped out where the various frequencies are. I'm telling you, if you don't drink enough water, if you don't have enough phospholipids, healthy cholesterol, healthy fats in your diet, if you have a bioaccumulation of lead, aluminum, arsenic, tin, uranium, radioactive from Fukushima, all these things developing in your life, if you're on certain drugs, if you have stress, these things aggravate it because this is a nerve. And the nerve and our thoughts, our words we speak to ourselves, generate an orchestra of the behavior of your brain. And let me give you an example. You're listening to things all the time. Maybe there's some outside traffic here; maybe I can hear people walking down the hallway, some low conversational words. But I don't listen to it. I hear it; it's coming through, but I have taught myself, and I have a subliminal statement: don't focus on the traffic, don't focus on the conversation in the next room, focus on what we're doing here right now. And your body will downregulate sounds. It will modulate down. Just like if you train your skin to touch hot water and wash your dishes with hot water all the time, you will become more insensitive and less touchy to that hot water, where a brand new introduction of that temperature water before you worked up to it, you would have pulled your hand back and said, oh, that's too hot. But you can train your nerves to give you feedback that I'm going to tolerate this; I'm going to handle this.
So, we can train what we're going to listen to. And some of this modulation of what we tune out, what we allow to manifest, is trainable. One of the things they do is to be aware of this and tell yourself, it's okay. I mean, there are certain ringing ears, like getting an acoustic neuroma on the 8th nerve, a brain tumor. If you're getting such driving crazy tinnitus, you have to see a doctor and get an MRI of your brain. Outside of that, that's extremely rare. Most of us are just having life and dirty insulation of our nerve wires, and they're cracking, and they're getting a little discoordinated in the music and the vetting and the harmonization of what we're telling ourselves to pay attention to and not pay attention to. So, one of the things you could do is go out and get some white noise, like you could buy a cheap fan, a little fan, and just turn it on low and let that hum so you can sleep at night. Some will get the white noise of the sound of waves. So, alternate sounds will help you choose: I'm going to listen to this, I'm not going to listen to that, and you can train yourself in that. That would be the first step I would probably do. Hopefully that would be a help, but then, of course, you would see your doctor if it's not getting any better or if it's worsening, and they'll decide whether you need an MRI of your brain.
